…and what better place is there to do it than at an airport?  That’s right, I’m safe and sound at O’Hare’s gate H11A waiting for boarding, which should start in just over an hour.  I don’t know why I ever bother to bring anything to keep me busy… I always wind up people-watching instead.  There’s the guy who keeps walking past back and forth with his coffee: I’d say he’s lost but he looks too calm.  Then there are the old couples who are just taking their time to do every little thing: as long as I’m not walking behind them I think they’re pretty cool.  A grown man just walked past looking very happy with life: I think it’s because he just got that ice cream cone from McDonald’s.  My favorite was the businessman who was briskly walking toward me as his foot slipped right out from under him: he stayed standing but then reached into his briefcase and tried to pretend like nothing happened… well sir, I saw you.

And so my journey begins.  I don’t know exactly what to expect yet, but next time I post here I’ll have left Illinois!
