We made it! Ana and Cesar joined us in Santiago for our flight to La Serena and I’m now writing from Casa 13, where we met up with Gustavo. This is where we’ll all live for the next 10 weeks! We just got a brief introduction to the house from Nicole, David, and Dan and we have a little free time right now. In a little bit, we’ll go grab food and find out where the good spots to go shopping are! Here are a few photos of Julia and Ana in front of Casa 13 and the room I’ll be in:
For the record, La Serena is 3 hours ahead of U.S. Central Time. It was only a 1-hour difference last time I was here… I’ll have to check that out.

I’m just guessing here, but I believe the time difference difference (or time change change, if you prefer) would easily be caused by DST. When you were there last, you went from CDT (-0500) to their standard time (probably -0400); now, you’re going from CST (-0600) to their summer time (probably -0300).

Yeah, we talked about it on our way downtown yesterday and figured out that for the time changes, most of the northern hemisphere falls back one hour in the fall, but the change in the southern hemisphere would be to move forward… just like all the seasons are opposites. Headache averted!
