2722 meters (or 8930 feet or 1.69 miles) up, that is! Tomorrow, I’ll be heading for the summit at Cerro Pachón for two nights of observing at Gemini South, an 8.1 meter telescope. Cerro Pachón is adjacent to Cerro Tololo (where I spent a week last July). Steven will also be there for the first of my two nights. Percy wants him to fill me in on the research he’s been doing so I can jump in and start working on that project over the next couple of weeks. I slept in today so I can start adjusting myself to a night schedule for the weekend. That’s all for now, but you can expect some photos in the near future once I’m at the summit!
